The last of the tigers ? - by Paul Godden
Acrylic on canvas, 70cm x 70cm x 4cm.
Signed, dated and titled on the back of the canvas.
This was the second large scale formal abstract expressionist painting I produced. The painting is called last of the tigers because it is the last painting I produced that included the tiger stripes on the right side of the painting. This element was dropped for future paintings (who knows it might come back some day). One of the issues this painting addresses is scale. It uses a different scale to that of Striking and is related to Atoms in a universe of dark matter ? and Atoms in a universe of dark energy ? Later paintings moved away from this scale. There is also the first glimpse of silver dots on dark background (bottom left corner) although I first used this technique in reverse in the painting Parrot.
Please note this painting has some silver colour and so catches the light. The front photograph presents this more accurately.
Price = £300 (Does not require framing)
